Massage at Work vs. Spa Gift Cards for Employee Appreciation

Whether you’re celebrating nurses week or the holidays, using massage as an employee appreciation gift is a great idea. It’s like giving your employee a massage gift card.

Not only will your employees love it, but you’ll see benefits too as they’ll be happier, healthier, and more productive.

There are two ways to go about gifting your staff to a day of massage. Traditionally, you would probably just purchase a massage gift card to a spa for the employee to use. Today, there’s a better way. You can bring massage right to your office.

In this article, we’ll break down when you might want to use a spa gift card and when office massage is the best idea.

Office Massage vs. Massage Gift Cards

If you’re trying to decide between a massage gift card and an office massage experience, look no further. Of course, as the original office massage company, we’d like to suggest that in office massage is the way to go. But the truth is that’s not always your best option.

So with that said, here’s your comparison of between office massage services and a spa gift card.

Massage at work vs Massage Gift Card

Option #1: Office Massage for Employees

If you’re unfamiliar with office massage, you probably have a few questions about how it all works.

First of all, workplace massage is typically fully-clothed chair massage. A massage chair can be set up anywhere you have a 5×5 area, although you’ll probably want to make sure it’s in a quiet spot.

Setting up office massage is incredibly easy! You just schedule the event, have your employees pick a time slot to receive their massage, and your chair massage company will send massage therapists your way.

Once they arrive and set up, they’ll treat each of your employees to a 5-30 minute massage.

So why offer massage in the office instead of just giving a massage gift card for employee appreciation?

1. You know your employees will actually use it.

It can be really easy to forget about a massage gift card, especially if it’s for something you don’t usually experience, like a massage. If you’re scheduling massage for your employees, you know they’re taking advantage of the gift and receiving the benefit.

2. Your employees will love the convenience.

You’ll be making it so incredibly easy for them to receive this perk! They’ll get a few minutes during their workday to recharge, and they’ll feel how much they’re valued. They’ll also appreciate that they won’t have to take time off of work or out of their otherwise busy schedule to get the massage.

3. You’ll cover the entire bill.

There’s something mentally beneficial about never seeing the bill for a massage—and knowing that your employer is covering the cost makes it even better. When you bring in office massage, you’ll take care of the bill and your employees won’t need to tip the massage therapist at the end of their session.

4. It’s a great introductory massage.

Some people who have never had a massage before may not be comfortable with the thought of a spa massage. Receiving a chair massage, fully clothed at a place they’re already comfortable with (the office) can be a much more comfortable situation.

5. Workplace massage is very affordable.

Chair massages are typically anywhere from 5 minutes to 45 minutes whereas spa massages are typically 30 minutes or more. If your budget won’t allow you to buy a full spa massage, massage at work is a great idea.

Even a 5 minute massage will show your employees how much you care.

Option #2: Massage Gift Card for a Spa

Let’s face it, there’s nothing quite like a day at the spa. If you’d really like to treat your team, a massage gift certificate for a treatment at a local spa can’t be beat.

Here’s why you might choose a massage gift card over an in office massage experience:

1. You’re giving a gift to only a couple employees.

A spa treatment for a whole team will be more expensive than an office service that provides chair massage. But if you only have a couple people ready to benefit from massages, a spa gift card might be the way to go.

2. You have remote workers.

Obviously, if you don’t have an office location that your employees conveniently show up to everyday, office massage may not make sense. Giving them a massage gift card to go on their own time, wherever they work can work out really well.

3. Your work environment isn’t set up for office massage.

As a original, proven, corporate chair massage company, we’d like to think we can give a chair massage in just about any workplace environment. But the truth is, that might not always be the case. If you have a team of long-haul truckers, or workers who spend most of their time out in the field, you might not have a “home base” office that makes sense for an office massage service. In that case, you might be better off with a spa gift card your employees can redeem when it’s convenient for them.
